A Liturgy of the Word for children.

St. Matthew’s Cathedral believes when you hear the voices of children in the Church, you will hear the voices of the Church in children in return. We welcome children of all ages as integral members of the body of Christ, as Jesus did. All sounds are good sounds in the Nave. Children are invited to experience and participate in worship according to their needs (the Nave services, Nursery Care, or in Wonder&Worship) for any given service.

We have quiet materials in the back of the Nave and “prayerful bags”; an usher will be happy to assist. God put wriggles and squeals in children, and we celebrate them just as they are!

Mothers are welcome to nurse wherever feels comfortable. If desired, a rocking chair is available in the women’s powder room located in the Foyer.

All volunteers have been safeguarded, and background checked. Most of our Godly Play leaders have completed specialized training.

Cathedral Kids Values

LUKE 18:16-17
16 BUT JESUS CALLED THEM TO HIM, SAYING,
“LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME, AND DO NOT HINDER THEM, FOR TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF GOD. 17 TRULY, I SAY TO YOU, WHOEVER DOES NOT RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE A CHILD SHALL NOT ENTER IT.”

“If in children more naturally than any other age is found both the vision that can perceive the kingdom of heaven and the humility which is the key to it, we should expect childhood to possess not only a special sanctity but supreme significance.” Lord Elton, Such is the Kingdom.
